Vice President brings New Year gifts to needy residents

Vice President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh presented 200 gifts to poor families and students in the Mekong Delta province of Tra Vinh on February 1 to help them enjoy a warm Lunar New Year (Tet) holiday.

While in Tra Vinh, the State leader visited families of revolutionary contributors, including Heroic Mother Huynh Thi Tam and war invalid Mai Tan Duc, and poor residents in Long Duc commune.

The Vice President praised the Long Duc Party Committee and authorities for their attention to preferential policy beneficiaries in the locality.

As the Lunar New Year approaches, localities nationwide are also extending assistance to disadvantaged groups.

The south central coastal province of Phu Yen decided to spend 11 billion VND (484,000 USD) from the local budget on supporting families of revolutionary contributors and the poor.

The delegation of National Assembly deputies in Phu Yen raised money to buy 200 gifts, each worth 500,000 VND (22 USD), to local AO/dioxin victims, revolutionary contributors, and flood victims.

The Vietnam Association of the Elderly (VAE) in the province also presented Lunar New Year gifts to the poor and policy beneficiaries on January 31.

On behalf of the VAE, President Nguyen Thi Hai Chuyen presented 50 gifts worth 1 million VND (44 USD) each to disadvantaged people in Phu Hoa district’s Hoa Thang commune.
