The US Tyco Electronics group will invest US$35 million in the first phase of its electronic equipment and passive electronic component factory in Que Vo industrial zone, northern Bac Ninh province, in early August.

The company was granted an investment license by the local authorities on July 30.

The 6.5ha factory will provide products for Tyco Electronics clients in Vietnam and the region. When operational in 2009, the factory is expected to recruit 2,000 workers.

Tyco Electronics’ major products include automatic machines, equipment for the defense industry and computers.

The group achieved a turnover of US$13 billion last year and now has sale agents in 150 countries and territories.
