Prayer for peace held in Belgium

(VOV) - Overseas Vietnamese in Belgium and Luxembourg on February 9 gathered at the Vietnamese Embassy in prayers for peace and happiness of the people in the coming year.

Vietnamese ambassador to Belgium Pham Sanh Chau spoke about the tradition and cultural significance of the people’s time-honoured prayer for peace on the occasion of the New Year.

“It helps the overseas Vietnamese community become closer and pray for best wishes for their families and the homeland” he said, and he affirmed the Party and State’s policy to respect people’s religious freedom.

Thich Vien Minh, Head Monk of Ho Quoc pagoda in France’s Roubaix city said that “the event is incipient of the special attention the government pays to the religious life of overseas Vietnamese”.

He emphasised the importance of strengthening solidarity and people helping each other in their daily lives and actively making contributions to their homeland.
