The relevant State agencies will strictly monitor and inspect food processing plants which produce high-risk foods, such as raw meats and seafood. Strict management will also applied to the transport and trading of these foods, particularly in wholesale markets and trade centres.

The heads of border provinces have also asked market management services to work more closely with the police and border guards to prevent the illegal transporting and trading of food through border gates.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Trade and Industry has introduced various tough measures to deal with counterfeit products and unsafe foods. The Ministry has also worked with customs agencies, the border guards and market management services to uncover and punish those who break the law.

The media have also been urged to run information campaigns to raise public awareness of food hygiene and safety measures.
