The National Fund for Vietnamese Children will present gifts worth a total of VND300 million to 5,000 disadvantaged children across the country for the mid-autumn festival, which falls on October 6.

Beneficiaries will include children in central Da Nang city and Quang Ngai, Quang Tri and Thua Thien-Hue provinces which were recently hit by Typhoon Sangxane, as well as those in remote and mountainous areas.

The gifts were donated by companies and organisations, including the Vietnam-Australia Steel Joint Venture, the Kinh Do Company, the Thien Long Company, the Bao Viet Life Insurance Company and the Hai Ha Confectionery Company.

Ho Chi Minh City-based Samsung Vina Electronics Co. also presented cakes, lanterns, books and a television set to 300 disabled children in southern Binh Duong province.
