New Delhi Doordarshan DD News under the Indian Radio and Television Corporation on June 29 said that Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung’s first visit to India from July 4-6 will highlight the special relationship between Vietnam and India.

The media group quoted Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee Nguyen Thanh Tai as saying that the special time-honoured relationship between HCM City and India’s West Bangal state had started from the first days of the anti-French colonial war of resistance which had the support of Indian people from this state.

www.rediff.com ran an article by Pallab Bhattacharya from Hanoi saying that in a recent interview granted to a group of Indian people, PM Dung said that his upcoming visit to India aims to promote cooperative relations with the country in all fields, especially in security, energy and education with a view to bringing bilateral relations to a new height.


In regard to energy cooperation between India and Vietnam, Mr Dung said Vietnam is interested in energy supply for India and welcomes India’s investment in the Vietnamese energy sector to help it meet its increasing demand for energy.
