Education festival for Vietnamese students in UK

(VOV) -A large number of students in the UK have attended the Oxford Open Day 2013 festival held by the Vietnamese Society in Oxford (VOX) at the University of Exeter.

Participants were informed about the enrollment and interview process, study experiences and postgraduate education progammes and job opportunities.

They had the chance to met and exchange with former Oxford students at different seminars.

Hoang Huu Phuc, who has received a full scholarship from the University of Exeter, and is head of the organization board, said the festival on February 16 was a great success thanked to the great efforts made by VOX members and the sponsorship of the University of Exeter.

For the first time VOX invited some prominent alumni including Dr. Nguyen Thao Nguyen from the UK Technology Transfer Association; Doctor Xin Hui Chan, a founding member of the projectsoutheastasia.com from John Radcliff Hospital; and Pham Anh Son, a software developer from Ocado, he said.

In addition, VOX also organized a wide range of activities to connect the students, raise funds for the homeland and promote Vietnamese culture to foreign friends.

Most recently, it provided free meals for poor patients in Khanh Hoa province and worked with the UK-Vietnam Friendship Association to host workshops to raise public awareness of Agent Orange/dioxin victims in Vietnam.

Phuc announced that a film screening show will be held in Oxford on February 24.
