Archaeological discovery proves cultural similarity
Graves and burial jars recently discovered at Phoi Phoi-Bai Coi archaeological site in the central province of Ha Tinh are the same found in the Republic of Korea (RoK).
It reveals similarities among contemporary Asian cultures, Hong Jin-geun from RoK National Museum has said.
During a two-week excavation, Vietnamese and RoK archaeologists unearthed a number of graves, burial jars and vases, as well as belongings buried with the dead, including vases, bronze bows, gloves, hatchets, arrows, iron lances and stone earrings.
Nguyen Manh Thang, an official from the Vietnam National Museum of History, said the artifacts found at the site confirm the Sa Huynh civilisation exchanged with other people of the same period, including the Dong Son civilisation.
Phoi Phoi-Bai Coi is an important archaeological site in Vietnam, serving the study of their religions and traditional practices that can be compared with other cultures of the same period.
The excavation will bring to light more material to help the site gain national relic recognition.
