A press conference was held in Hanoi on May 28 to announce a special art programme to mark International Children’s Day (June 1) during the Action Month for Children in 2007.

The programme aims to highlight the dreams, ambitions and achievements of children. An exchange will be held during the programme between the Party, State leaders and outstanding children.

Speaking at the conference, Director of the Vietnam Children’s Protection Fund, Vu Anh Dao called on local and foreign organisations and individuals to help children in adverse circumstances including the disabled, Agent Orange victims and poor children in the coastal provinces overcome their difficulties and become useful citizens.

She also emphasised that the event is a practical activity to mark Children’s Day. The programme is expected to raise VND10 billion to help the disadvantaged children. It will be broadcast live on VTV1 from the National Convention Centre and the Vietnam SOS Children’s Village on June 1.

The conference was co-organized by the Vietnam Children’s Protection Fund, the Asian Commercial Bank and the BMS Trademark Promotion Company.
