Sai Gon port has so far this year handled over 2 million tonnes of imported goods, accounting for 42 percent of its yearly plan.
The figure represents a growth rate of more than 161 percent over the same period last year.
The imports included cattle-feed, clinker, chemicals, equipment and machinery, fertiliser, steel and iron.

Meanwhile, the volume of exported products loaded and unloaded by the port reached more than 773,500 tonnes in the reviewed period.
