Japan Coast Guard vessel joins anti-piracy drills in Vietnam

VOV.VN - The Japanese Coast Guard patrol vessel Echigo arrived at Tien Sa Port in Danang today (June 13) to begin six days of joint anti-piracy training exercises with the Vietnam and Philippines navies.

According to Japanese Coast Guard the 105-metre patrol vessel has a standard cruising speed of 22 knots and a range of 1,500 nautical miles. 

The vessel has a complement of 50 people.

Captain Toyota Chikara says this is the first Japan patrol vessel to visit Danang since Japan and Vietnam sign an agreement in September 2016 to boost maritime security.
