The Vietnam National Assembly (NA) is in full support of the government’s policy on accelerating international integration and developing bilateral ties with the US.

NA Vice Chairman Nguyen Van Yeu made the statement while receiving US Senator James Webb in Hanoi on July 4.

Vietnam and the US need to increase meetings, particularly those between parliamentarians, with an eye on business facilitation, he said.

The legislator urged Senator Webb to make greater efforts to boost up Vietnam-US relations and encourage US businesses to invest in the Southeast Asian country.
For his part, Senator Webb said he is willing to work as a bridge to promote mutual understanding between the people of the two nations as well as between overseas Vietnamese in the US and Vietnam.

The US senator, who has organised a number of activities to aid disabled people and assist foreign companies to invest in Vietnam, expressed his delight at the country’s recent progress.

During his visit, senator Webb paid a courtesy visit to Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Gia Khiem, and met with Vice Director of the NA Committee for External Relations Ton Nu Thi Ninh, Deputy Minister of Defence Nguyen Huy Hieu, Deputy Minister of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs Nguyen Thanh Hoa and Vice Head of the Government Office Nguyen Xuan Phuc.

The US lawmaker left Hanoi in the morning of July 5 and continue his tour of other Asian countries.
