Lao Deputy PM joins Tet celebration
(VOV) - Lao Deputy Prime Minister Somsavat Lengsavath has celebrated the Lunar New Year with Xieng Vang village’s Vietnamese community in the central Laos province of Khammoune on February 15.
Addressing the event, Lengsavath shared his hope that the Vietnamese community will help its resident country along the path to prosperity, honouring the bilateral relationship’s tradition of friendship, solidarity, and cooperation.
Nguyen Duy Trung, Acting Chairman of the Overseas Vietnamese Association in Laos, praised Xieng Vang’s Vietnamese community for their stoicism in the face of adversity, their successful integration, and their continued participation in the homeland’s movements and initiatives.
President Ho Chi Minh lived and worked in Xieng Vang village in 1929. Trung noted the village’s memorial to the Vietnamese leader, recognizing his contributions to the two countries’ revolutions.
The celebration’s participants were treated to traditional Vietnamese dishes, music, and dance.
