Deputy Prime Minister Pham Gia Khiem has called on the Asian Development Bank (ADB) to continue helping Vietnam develop human resources for the effective management and use of assistance capital.

While receiving ADB Vice President Lawrence Greenwood in Hanoi on February 7, the Deputy PM also affirmed that Vietnam will do its utmost to control the outcome of ODA- funded development projects.

Deputy PM Khiem, who is also Minister of Foreign Affairs, spoke highly of ADB's assistance to and cooperation with the country, particularly the bank's commitments at a recent Consultative Group Meeting.

For his part, Greenwood hailed Vietnam as a good example in managing the development results, adding that relations between ADB and Vietnam is now at an important time.

The ADB official hoped that Vietnam's recent revisions to regulations on official development assistance (ODA) management will not affect donors' work, and that the country will make use of its position and role to boost regional and sub-regional cooperation, especially in the expanded Mekong sub-region and the East-West Economic Corridor.
