The central water puppetry theatre has attended several international puppetry festivals in Japan, France and Italy so far this year, said Vuong Duy Bien, Director of the theatre.

This is part of an effort to introduce the country’s unique art as well as to gain experience for its hosting of the international puppetry festival in Vietnam next year.

The theatre’s troupe drew the attention of Italian spectators, who enthusiastically filled up performance venues and applauded the artists.

During the Italian leg of the tour, the troupe visited a private puppetry museum of which they hope to establish a similar one in Vietnam.

The troupe will leave for Indonesia on November 11 to attend the ASEAN puppetry festival and will tour France later.

The water puppetry theatre has given over 1,200 performances inside and outside the country so far this year.
