Ho Chi Minh City will need 50,000 full-time workers and 30,000 part-time workers in the three remaining months of this year, according to the municipal Department of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs.

The business demand for labour is increasing, especially for part-time workers, to fulfill this year’s production plan and produce goods for the traditional Lunar New Year festival (Tet).

Tran Anh Tuan, vice director of the Centre for Human Resources Forecast and Labour Market Information, said that in the remaining months of the year, businesses won’t be short of workers because of the positive effect of the salary policy. In addition, students will graduate from colleges and universities at that time.

The sectors that need the most workers are marketing, trading, services, and food processing.

This year, the city plans to generate around 270,000 workers and 222,400 people have already gotten jobs in the first nine months.
