The Government has asked the Electricity of Vietnam Group (EVN) to invest in a project to supply electricity to around 116,000 households in 1,200 hamlets and villages in the Central Highlands.

The project, estimated to cost US$68.7 million, will build 2,465km of medium-tension lines and install 1,242 transformers with a total capacity of more than 73,000KVA.

In recent years, the State has poured a large number of investment in building electricity infrastructures in 653 out of the total 655 communes, wards and towns in five Central Highlands provinces.

However, there remained nearly 198,000 households in the region having no access to the national electricity grid.
