Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan took part in an exchange entitled “For Agent Orange Pain” in Hanoi on August 8, organised by the Vietnam News Agency (VNA).

Ambassadors to Vietnam from Greece, Finland, Russia, Chile, France and Palestine also attended the exchange along with benefactors and AO victims.

Speaking at the event, Deputy PM Nhan said AO victims are suffering the greatest misery and the Government has committed to minimize the consequences of the war, which requires the help from social organisations and international friends.

On behalf of the Government, he applauded the VNA for its initiative in founding the “For Agent Orange Pain” fund and its practical activities over the past five years.

Since its establishment in September 2006, the fund has raised VND3.8 billion and provided assistance to AO victims across the country. On this occasion, the fund received more than VND650 million from domestic and foreign individuals and organisations.
