The National Forensic Medicine Institute (NFMI) will be established under a recent decision by the Prime Minister, the Ministry of Health (MoH) announced at a ceremony in Hanoi on October 2.

The institute will be set up on the basis of the ministry's subsidiary, the Central Institute for Judicial Medicine. It will have a branch in Ho Chi Minh City.

The newly-established institute will conduct forensic examinations, set forensic standards and provide training for forensic experts.
