Vietnam's northern mountainous province of Son La has just completed the upgrade of the Muong Et ferry for the Lao province of Huaphan.

The new ferry is expected to facilitate traffic in Huaphan province all year round.

Work on the VND2.6 billion project began in November 2005. The aim of the project is to strengthen the cooperation between the two provinces in particular and the traditional friendly relations between Vietnam and Laos in general.
