Hanoi race to raise funds for needy children

(VOV) - The 13th Run for Children race will be held in the capital city on December 2, according to the organising board at a press conference held in Hanoi on November 27.

The race was co-organised by the Canadian embassy in Vietnam, the Hanoi Union of Friendship Organizations, the Vietnam-Canada Friendship Association and Metropole Hanoi Hotel.

The event, which was formerly known as the Terry Fox Run, is held annually to raise funds to support poor children who suffer from cancer or heart disease.

Originating from the Terry Fox Run to support cancer treatment, the race has been named Run for Children in Vietnam since 2009, targeting children and poor patients.

It has attracted not only people from social strata but also foreigners including ambassadors, staff and representatives of international organizations.

In 2009 and 2010, the event has helped 70 children suffering from heart disease to enjoy a normal life.

A range of other activities will also be held during the race. All necessary information will be posted at the website runforchildrenhanoi.org.
