The initiative came after a seminar on policy held in Hanoi on September 3 as part of the Japan Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Day, which is co-hosted by the Vietnam Software Association (VINASA) and the VINASA-Japan IT Cooperation Club (VJC).
VINASA Chairman Truong Gia Binh said the portal is expected to facilitate Vietnamese and Japanese software businesses’ access to supporting data.
According to Deputy Director of the Hanoi Department for Information and Communications Nguyen Manh Dung, the office will provide facilities and technologies for the construction of the portal while the contents will be undertaken by VJC.
At the workshop, VINASA representatives said Japan is Vietnam’s strategic software partner and market as bilateral software trade value has seen an annual growth of 40-50 percent in recent years.
VINASA forecast Japan will surpass North America to become Vietnam’s largest software partner by 2010.
