Party General Secretary Nong Duc Manh left Hanoi on May 24 for his first official visits to four Latin American countries of Chile, Brazil, Venezuela and Cuba.

The visits are made at the invitations of Chilean President Michelle Bachelet Jeria, Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez Frias and Cuban First Secretary of the Communist Party Central Committee Fidel Castro, who is also President of the Council of State and Council of Ministers of Cuba.

 

The Party General Secretary is accompanied by Nguyen Sinh Hung, Politburo member of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee (CPVCC) and Permanent Deputy Prime Minister; Nguyen Van Son, member of the CPVCC and head of the CPVCC External Affairs Commission; Ngo Van Du, member of the CPVCC and head of the CPVCC Office; Le Doan Hop, member of the CPVCC and Minister of Culture and Information; Hoang Trung Hai, member of the CPVCC and Minister of Industry; Hoang Van Phong, member of the CPVCC and Minister of Science and Technology; Nguyen Quoc Trieu, member of the CPVCC and chairman of the Hanoi municipal People’s Committee; Le Hoang Quan, member of the CPVCC and chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee; Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan, member of the CPVCC and Deputy Minister of Trade; Ho Tien Nghi, assistant to the General Secretary; Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Phu Binh; and Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen Duc Hoa.
