Governor of Virginia State, Timothy Kaine, on January 7 appointed Lynda Tran, an American of Vietnamese origin, as communications director to replace Delacey Skinner.

The decision came into effect as January 7. Accordingly, Lynda Tran will manage a seven-member staff to carry out communications activities relating to the governor’s activities.

Lynda Tran, 30, was born in Washington and graduated from the communication department of Pennsylvania University. She has a master’s in international and development policy from Georgetown University.

She previously worked for the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) for eight years as assistant director of communications and as national communications director for SEIU's property services division.

Speaking at an event to announce the appointment, Mr Kaine expressed his delight at Tran’s skill and experience and his belief that Ms Tran will do her job well.
