The Thai National Symphony Orchestra will give a free one-night performance at the Hanoi Opera House on September 10 to mark the 80th birthday of Thailand’s King Bhumibol Adulyadej (December 5) and the 31st anniversary of Vietnam-Thailand diplomatic ties.

The 32-member orchestra will perform some of Thailand’s most recognized pieces. Tickets will be offered free at the Department for Performing Arts of the Vietnamese Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

The orchestra is Thailand’s oldest and was founded by King Rama VI in 1910 to perform at royal rituals and government ceremonies.

Every month, it hosts a regular “For votaries of music” performance at the Thai National Opera House with the aim of educating the younger generations about classical music.
