Many overseas Vietnamese and students in Washington gathered on October 25 to vote for Ha Long Bay as one of the seven new natural wonders of the world.

At the ceremony, Vietnamese Ambassador to the US Nguyen Quoc Cuong called on all Vietnamese living in the US to encourage their relatives as well as international friends to vote for Ha Long Bay.

La Van Chung, a Vietnamese expatriate who has lived in the US for three decades, said the voting campaign for Ha Long Bay has received a positive response from large numbers of Vietnamese residents.

Le Minh Nam, Vice Director of Mai Linh USA company, said the Vietnam-based Mai Linh group and Mai Linh USA company had fixed stickers to the company’s vehicles and left leaflets on passenger seats encouraging them to vote for Ha Long Bay.

Vietnam’s Ha Long Bay is one of the leading 28 candidates for the seven new natural wonders of the world title.

The list of seven new natural wonders with an overwhelming majority of the votes will be announced on November 11, 2011.
