The President of the Republic of Cyprus, Demetris Christofias, made the statement at a recent reception for Vietnamese Ambassador Dang Khanh Thoai.

President Christofias expressed his respect and admiration for Vietnam’s undaunted struggle for independence, freedom and national unification and hailed its recent achievements in the cause of national defence and development.

President Christofias emphasized that the Republic of Cyprus attaches much importance to strengthening the traditional ties of friendship and cooperation with Vietnam. He conveyed his best regards to Vietnamese President Truong Tan Sang and other leaders on the occasion of the traditional Lunar New Year festival (Tet).
