The National Assembly (NA) Standing Committee continued its 13th session in Hanoi on October 11 to discuss the draft law on cadres and State employees and the draft law on amendments and supplements to article 26 of the Housing Law.

Regarding the draft law on cadres and State employees, the NA Standing Committee focused on four major issues related to the specific number of and the titles to communal-level cadres and State employees.

In the previous Government report, the Housing Law regulated four groups of people of Vietnamese origin entitled to own houses, including people credited with revolutionary services, scientists, experts or those who want to return to the home country for resettlement.

In order to carry out Party and State polices on overseas Vietnamese and help them stabilise their lives after returning to their home country, the draft law on amendments and supplements to article 26 of the Housing Law has been revised to make it possible for overseas Vietnamese to buy houses the same way as Vietnamese citizens living in the country.

The two draft laws will be submitted to the NA for consideration at the fourth session of the 12th NA scheduled for October 16.
