A delegation of seven senators from the France-Vietnam Friendship Group (FVFG) in the French Senate led by President Gerard Miquel began an official visit to Vietnam on September 11.

The delegation will hold talks with Vietnamese National Assembly deputies and visit some France-Vietnam cooperation projects in Hanoi, Hue, HCM City, Can Tho and An Giang provinces.

The visit will focus on issues relating to prospects for Vietnam’s economic development, the presence of French economic units in Vietnam and cooperation between France and Vietnam.

In 2006, the French Senate funded some cooperation projects worth 140,000 euros in Vietnam.

In addition, the French Senate also assisted Vietnam in training civil aviation staff, establishing multimedia network of teaching French at universities in Hanoi, implementing a project for young people in difficult circumstances, and setting up a centre for science and information communication technology at the Da Nang Polytechnics University.
