Vietnamese and Lao experts have proposed upgrading the Vietnam-Laos landmark planting system this year at a meeting held in central Nghe An province from April 20-24.

In the first round of discussion in Cua Lo town, the Vietnam-Laos Joint Committee for Landmark Planting agreed to adopt legal and technical issues at a meeting scheduled for Hanoi in May.

Under the plan, the first landmarks will be inaugurated in early September at the Lao Bao and Densavane border gates in bordering Quang Tri and Bonaphasi provinces in Vietnam and Laos, respectively.

The Vietnamese delegation was led by the Foreign Ministry’s National Border Committee Vice Chairman Nguyen Hong Thao and the Lao delegation by the Chief of the Secretariat of the Foreign Ministry’s National Border Committee, Phoukhao Phommavongsa.
