A workshop on "Culture and humanity: the Vietnamese Community in Laos" was held in Vientiane on April 24 by the Vietnam Institute of Social Sciences and the Lao Ministry of Culture and Information.

The Vietnamese and Lao scientists presented reports on the national and cultural development process in Laos, the migration and its effects, the formation of the Vietnamese community in Laos, and the preservation of Vietnamese cultural identity in the community.

The workshop aims to help both the Vietnamese and Lao governments create policies useful to the overseas Vietnamese in Laos in order to boost the role of the community in the development of the two countries' relations.
