Association urged to work for Vietnam-Belgium friendship

(VOV) - The Vietnam-Belgium Friendship Association (VBFA) needs to make greater efforts to promote cross- cultural exchanges between Vietnam and Belgium.

Nguyen Thi Hoang Van, Vietnam Union of Friendship Organisations (VUFO) Secretary General made the request at the third VBFA Congress for its 2013-2018 term in Hanoi on December 18.

Van asked the association to launch more initiatives with diverse forms to boost cooperation in economics, trade, science-technology-environment, education training, culture and tourism.

She also announced a decision awarding Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam the insignia “For Peace and Friendship among Nations”.

On the occasion, VBFA members were also presented with certificates of merit in recognition of their positive contributions to the friendship and cooperation between the two nations.

Delegates elected a 45-member new executive board led by Chairman Pham Manh Hung, who is also Deputy Minister of Education and Training and Rector of the National Economics University.

The same day, the VUFO and VBFA held a ceremony to mark the 40th anniversary of the Vietnam – Belgium diplomatic ties during which they reviewed the tremendous achievements recorded over the past four decades.
