Sponsors named for 2013 football season
(VOV) - Sponsors of the 2013 national football tournaments were officially announced in a ceremony held in Ho Chi Minh City on January 24.
The Vietnam Export Import Bank (Eximbank) will be the main sponsor of national football tournaments.
This is the third time Eximbank has financed the Vietnam National Football Championship (V-League) and the first time it has agreed to support the National Cup.
V-League will be held from March 2 to August 25.
It is scheduled to draw the participation of 12 clubs nationwide, including Becamex Binh Duong, Dong Tam Long An, Hoang Anh Gia Lai, Ha Noi T&T, Kienlongbank Kien Giang, SHB Da Nang, Song Lam Nghe An, Thanh Hoa, Cement The Vissai Ninh Binh, Cement Vicem Haiphong, Cement Xuan Thanh Sai Gon and Dong Nai.
A total of 132 matches will take place, with the winning team taking home VND4 billion, and second and third placed teams awarded VND2 billion and VND1 billion, respectively.
Aside from the main prize, others will be awarded to those who achieve the titles: the best player, the best coach and fair play.
The national first-division football tournament will be organised from March 9 to July 6, with a total of 56 fixtures.
Eight clubs will take part in the event and the winners will pocket VND1 billion, VND300 million more than last year’s season.
Meanwhile, the National Cup 2013 will attract 18 clubs from around the country. The winners will receive VND1 billion and will have a chance to represent Vietnam in the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Cup 2014.
