Busan Mayor receives PM Dung

(VOV) - Busan Mayor Suh Byung-soo described the conclusion of a Vietnam-Republic of Korea (RoK) Free Trade Agreement (FTA) negotiations as an important milestone in promoting bilateral cooperative ties, especially in economics, trade and investment.

The Mayor made the affirmation at a December 11 meeting with Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung, who is in Busan to attend the 25th anniversary of ASEAN-RoK Dialogue.

He revealed that Busan and Ho Chi Minh City are sister cities and that about 340 businesses are operating in Vietnam while more than 10,000 Overseas Vietnamese (OVs) are working, studying and living in Busan.

He urged Vietnam to allow Busan Bank to open a branch in Vietnam and committed to create the best possible conditions for OVs to work, live and integrate into the country.

For his part, PM Nguyen Tan Dung asked Busan to strengthen cooperation with Vietnam in education and training and healthcare and grant more scholarships for Vietnamese students to study in Busan.

At a meeting with leaders of Doosan, CJ, Teakwang, and Lottee groups and Busan Bank on same day, PM Dung welcomed Korean investors to Vietnam and pledged to assist them successfully operating in the country.
