The central city of Da Nang will host the 2010 International Fireworks Competition, which will take place on March 27-28 next year.

This will be the third time that the city has hosted such event. The 2010 event will be held under the theme the “Legend of the Han River” with the participation of teams from the US, Japan, France, Portugal and the host Da Nang.

In addition to fireworks display, spectators will have a chance to enjoy music and dance performances and lantern floats.

The municipal People’s Committee says that the city will build a grand stand with a capacity of 30,000 people to serve local people and visitors.

Global 2000 of Malaysia has signed a contract worth US$465,000 to make preparations for the competition.

In the 2009 International Firework Competition, the first prize went to the Chinese team, followed by Australia and the Philippines. The host Vietnam was given the consolation prize. Thanks to the event, Da Nang received 60,000 visitors, a year-on-year increase of 20 percent.
