Judiciary reform should proceed along with legislative and administration reforms. Judiciary agencies must strongly combat bad manners to oppose the socialist regime and violate the State interests and citizens’ legitimate rights, said State President Tran Duc Luong at a national cadre conference to implement the Political Bureau’s resolution 49 on judiciary reform held in Hanoi on February 15.

The conference drew the participation of 700 officials and staff members from judiciary and central agencies and representatives and lawyers from provinces and cities throughout the country.

By effectively implementing the Political Bureau’s resolution 08, sectors and localities at the grassroots level have raised their awareness about the urgent need and objective requirements for promoting judiciary reform. In recent years, Vietnam has made remarkable progress in intensifying legislative activities to reinforce the organisation of judiciary agencies and resolve weaknesses in the judiciary sector. The Vietnamese judiciary is the socialist judiciary of the people and for the people. Therefore, judiciary work should be conducted in line with Party guidelines and policies to serve the cause of national construction and defence as Vietnam continues to implement the international integration process, Mr Luong noted.
