Switzerland's Alstom company has won a contract to supply equipment worth US$200 million to a power plant project in Nhon Trach district of southern Dong Nai province.

The package contract was signed between the Vietnam Machinery Installation Corporation (LILAMA) - the main contractor, and Alstom in Hanoi on November 15.

The Nhon Trach 1 Combined Cycle Power Plant will be built with US$375-million investment from the Vietnam Oil and Gas Corporation (PetroVietnam).

When completed in 28 months, the 450 MW-plant will have two gas turbines, one steam turbine and two heat retrieving steam generators. It will use natural gas supplied by the Phu My gas pipeline from the Mekong basin and Nam Con Son field.
