The city’s CPI rose by an accumulated 19.4 percent since the beginning of the year and by 25.69 percent over the last 12 months.

The CPI decline was seen in three out of ten commodity groups in the price basket with housing, electricity and water, and construction materials falling by 1.92 percent, followed by transport and telecommunication services, (1.22 percent), and food and restaurant services, (0.19 percent).

Economic experts said that the price decline could be attributable to the government’s inflation control measures and the decreasing trend in world prices.

HCM City will further strengthen price control measures and inspection of goods supply and quality between now and the year-end to meet consumption demand during the upcoming shopping season.
