Vietnam and Denmark signed a Memorandum of Understanding in Hanoi on March 2 to boost cooperation in labour and employment.

Signatories to the MoU were the Danish Minister of Employment, Claus Hjort Frederiksen, and the Vietnamese Minister of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs, Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan.

The MoU emphasised the two countries’ prospects for cooperation in improving legislation on labour administration, social security and labour relations, promoting trilateral relations, generating jobs and increasing corporate social responsibilities. It also included policies to improve social welfare and occupation safety and health as well as exchanging information and expertise between the two ministries.

Denmark has supported Vietnamese small-and-medium sized enterprises in improving labour conditions, strengthening trade unions’ roles and employers’ representations and preventing HIV/AIDS transmission at the workplace.

This programme has been carried out in Ha Tay (now Hanoi), Nghe An, Lam Dong and Khanh Hoa provinces.
