Nearly 200 domestic and foreign seafood businesses are showcasing their products at the Vietnam Fisheries International Exhibition, which opened in Ho Chi Minh City, on June 12.

International participants to VIETFISH 2007 come from among others, China, the Netherlands, Norway, India, Spain, Singapore, Thailand and Britain and are displaying a wide range of aquatic products and equipment used in seafood processing and export.


A number of conferences on trade barriers, quality of exported seafood and cooperation among firms are also to be held concurrence with the fair.


To mark the occasion, 17 businesses were presented with gold medals in recognition of the quality of their products.


The fair, which is organized by the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Processors (VASEP), will run until June 14.


VASEP, in collaboration with INFOFISH, an intergovernmental organisation, and the Network of Aquaculture Centres in Asia-Pacific (NACA), will hold an international conference on catfish in Ho Chi Minh City, on June 13-15.
