During the seminar, cultural researchers affirmed that the Law on Cultural Heritage has a whole chapter concerning intangible cultural heritage and stipulating the State’s responsibilities, as well as obligations and rights of citizens in cultural heritage protection. The law, issued in 2001, has met the urgent need to perverse cultural values. To make the law come into effect, the State should provide more financial assistance for the protection and preservation of cultural heritages, they added.
Participants also said that Vietnam has been aware of the diversity in its cultural heritage treasures, particularly in terms of intangible cultural heritage. In fact, many projects have been successfully implemented, greatly contributing to preserving traditional cultural values and raising awareness in the community. However, they added this is a new trend in Vietnam so there are still some shortcomings that need to be resolved in the coming time.
