The Ministry of Fisheries has invested VND120 billion (roughly US$7.5 million) to build three aquaculture-breeding centres in the provinces of Quang Nam, Khanh Hoa and Ninh Thuan, said the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP).

These centres were designated to carry out research and experimental programmes on enhancing the quality of aquatic species' genes in order to create new good-quality aquatic breeds.

The centres will also be required to study technological processes to produce aquatic breeds and preserve genes, and original aquatic breeds.
