Vietnam’s Long Thanh Golf Trading and Investment Company broke ground for a US$1 billion property project in capital Vientiane on January 3.

Covering 557.4 ha in Hat Sai Phong District, the project – the largest in Laos - includes an 18-hole golf course, a five-star hotel, high-grade villas, a resort and a school and a hospital.

The complex will be completed in 12 years, according to the developer.

At the groundbreaking ceremony, Lao Deputy Prime Minister Somsavat Lengsavad said the project is testimony to the special friendship between Laos and Vietnam.

He said the Lao government will create favourable conditions for Long Thanh company to carry out the project on schedule.
