Vietnam has signed an Additional Protocol (AP) on nuclear energy cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
Vietnamese Ambassador to Austria Nguyen Truong Giang on behalf of the Vietnamese Government and IAEA Deputy Director General Werner Burkart signed the document in Vienna, Austria.
The Vietnamese Ambassador said he was optimistic about cooperation prospects between Vietnam and the world's nuclear energy watchdog and reiterated the Vietnamese Government's commitment to using nuclear power for peaceful purpose.
The IAEA representative affirmed that his agency will assist Vietnam with consultancy services and the training of legal experts and technicians in the nuclear energy sector.
