Deaf dancers to debut in Germany

(VOV) - The Vietnamese hearing-impaired artist group “Noi Den” (Destination) will perform for the first time at the German Pfalzbau Theatre in Ludwigshafen in mid-May.

The group will perform choreographer Le Vu Long’s contemporary dance piece “Ky Uc Tho Dai” (Sigh Memory).

The piece explores present connections to past memories through a combination of body language, movement, light, and sound.

Noi Den’s performance will offer both German and European audiences more generally an insight into the contemporary state of the arts in Vietnam.

The performance was praised by critics and commentators at the 2010 Hue Festival.

The group’s German performance is part of the “Extending Views and Feelings on Contemporary Dance” project, co-sponsored by the Ford Foundation and the Danish Fund for Development and Cultural Exchange.
