The Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Central Committee coordinated with MobiFone on May 8 to present 80 scholarships to students and pupils in southeastern region.
Forty five scholarship for students worth VND2.4 million each were awarded along with 35 others for pupils worth VND1.2 million apiece.
The scholarships were given to poor students who overcame difficulties to achieve high academic results.
The “For Vietnam’s Future” scholarship programme in the 2011-2012 academic year provides 535 scholarships worth more than VND1 billion for students and pupils in 30 provinces and cities nationwide.
Since 2009, the programme has presented 2,130 scholarships valued at VND3 billion to outstanding disadvantaged students across the country.
