A memorandum of understanding (MoU) on strategic partnership between the Vietnam Oil and Gas Group (PetroVietnam) and the China Merchants Group (CMG) was signed in Hanoi on September 9.

Under the MoU, the two sides will seek opportunities to invest in areas such as seaports, logistical support for seaports in southern key economic areas and industrial zones, real estates, finance and securities. In addition, CMG is committed to helping PetroVietnam promote its business activities in China and other countries in the world.


PetroVietnam’s president of the board of directors,Dinh La Thang affirmed that establishing this strategic partnership is an important landmark in the development of the two groups. He proposed that the two sides discuss further details of a co-operative project in China during the Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung’s upcoming visit to China.


Established in 1872, CMG has become one of the leading groups in China, operating mainly in investment, construction of transport infrastructure facilities, sea transport and finance.
