The Party, State and people of Vietnam have always attached importance to developing the relations of traditional friendship and cooperation with the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK), its government and people.

Vice Chairwoman of the National Assembly Tong Thi Phong made the affirmation while receiving a delegation from the DPRK Women’s Union led by President Pak Sun Huy in Hanoi on November 30.

Mrs Phong said that Vietnam has always supported the DPRK’s aspiration for peace and national unification and welcomed efforts for peace and unification of the two Koreas on the basis of independence, self-control and self-determination in line with agreements reached at the 2000 and 2007 inter-Korean summits.

She also said that Vietnam has welcomed recent progress made in the six-party talks and is ready to contribute to the process for peace, stability and cooperation on the Korean peninsula.

Pak Sun Huy thanked the Vietnamese Party, Government and people for their support and assistance to the DPRK, considering it a great source of encouragement to the DPRK people in the past and at present.
