Jim Cronin, the 1980 Nobel Prize-winner in Physics of the University of Chicago will deliver a report at a workshop to be held by the Vietnam Physics Association on August 4.

Professor Cronin visited Vietnam in 1994 and 1998 to help young Vietnamese physicists develop the Pierre Auger project, which studies cosmic rays.

He will introduce the initial results of the project and explain relations between basic particles and the cosmos, and the macro and micro worlds.

Prof. Cronin is the US principal investigator of the world's largest cosmic-ray detector, the Pierre Auger Observatory, bringing together 200 physicists from 15 countries.
