Domestic gold prices on December 7 continued to drop below VND28 million per tael, corresponding to the downward trend in the world.

By late evening, 9999 gold of Hanoi SJC Jewelry and Gemstone Company was listed at VND27.8-27.95 million/tael. Meanwhile Thang Long Dragon gold of Bao Tin Minh Chau Company stood at VND27.81-28.05 million/tael.

The price of SJC gold on the ACB trading floor was transacted at VND25.451 million/tael, much lower than last week, price of VND25.98 million/tael. At closing time, there were 90,000 taels transacted at over VND2,300 billion in total.

When gold prices are controlled at a lower level, demand for gold by investors begins to rise. With a source of gold imports, the supply-demand situation is being balanced now.

The domestic gold price was influenced by world gold prices. In the New York market, at closing time last week, gold was transacted at US$1,162.4 per ounce. On December 6, it slumped further to US$1,141.8 per ounce.
